Science education standards for K-12 institutions
in Washington State are broken down into Grade
Level Expectations, benchmarks to be achieved
within the Systems, Inquiry and Application Essential
Academic Learning Requirements by specified grade
levels. Students are assessed on their science
understanding at grades 5, 8, and 10 with the
Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL).
